We replace older proprietary architecture simulator main computers with PCs. The existing software can be ported tot he PC using a source code conversion processor, alternatively, we can use an emulation technique. The hardware interfaces are remade using modern interfacing techniques and this allows old peripherals (e.g. magnetic tape drives and line printers) to be replaced with low-cost and reliable replacements (e.g. CD-RW and laser printers). Our host computer replacements use only Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) items, thereby minimising future simulator maintenance costs. |
